The Mid-Prairie boys begin their class 2A district tournament run tonight when they travel to Packwood to battle the Pekin Panthers.

The Golden Hawks enter action with an overall record of 5-16. The Hawks were beaten by Washington last time out 72-34. On the season Mid-Prairie is led by Cale Robertson scoring 10 points per game. Brad Tornow’s 65 assists are best on the team and third in the River Valley Conference. Tom Butters leads the Hawks and is fourth in the RVC with 152 rebounds.

Pekin comes into tonight with an overall record of 12-8. They won their Southeast Iowa Superconference shoot out game Friday over West Burlington 55-46 behind 15 points from Cameron Millikin. On the season the Panthers are led by Millikin at 14 points per game. Caleb Comstock is best on the team and fifth in the Superconference with 79 assists. Kennan Winn leads Pekin with 101 rebounds.

These two teams last met in the 2010 playoffs with Mid-Prairie scoring a 56-44 win on their way to the state tournament.
