A new club in Washington is aiming to teach members about healthy food choices and safety, and the members are all first and second grade students.
The Kids in the Kitchen Club was created in partnership of Washington County Extension and Washington County Hospital and Clinics. Students will learn about food groups, healthy choices, tasty recipes, snacks on the go, meal planning, and serving etiquette. For six weeks members will exercise and cook together. The after school club will be held Thursdays at Stewart Elementary School and the curriculum is a product of Iowa 4-H. Registration is due Friday with a limited number of spots available, the class is $5.
