The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball teams split a Superconference doubleheader Friday night at Mediapolis.
The IMS girls fell to the Bullettes by a 75-49 final. Things were tight early with Mediapolis leading 16-14 after one quarter and holding a 35-25 lead at the half. Mediapolis continued to stay hot offensively, posting 21 points in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 17 and 19 more in the final frame to finish out the win. Suzanna Yoder led IMS with a career high 32 points. She also pulled down 10 rebounds, had five assists and four steals. The IMS girls are now 1-9 on the season.
The Iowa Mennonite boys ran their winning streak to five in a row with a 63-46 win over the Bulldogs. Both teams came out firing with IMS holding a 17-15 lead after one quarter. IMS stayed hot, scoring 17 more in the second to stretch out to a 34-24 lead at the half. IMS did enough in the second half to hold off the Bulldogs including outscoring MEPO 14-9 in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Three IMS players got to double figures led by Cole Ours and Mitchell Schmeider each with 15 points, Reggie Borntrager added 14. The IMS boys are now 8-1 on the season.
The IMS boys and girls will both be in action Tuesday night when they travel to rival Lone Tree.
