Drought conditions across Iowa remained the same from last week to this week with 71% abnormally dry.
Also, 8.13% of the Hawkeye State is in moderate drought. All of Washington County is abnormally dry, as is Keokuk County. Most of Louisa, Iowa, and Jefferson Counties are also abnormally dry with areas of moderate drought. Johnson County is experiencing abnormally dry conditions with the northeast half of the county in moderate drought. Henry County is mostly in moderate drought. According to the National Weather Service, the total precipitation in Washington to start January is below normal.
