The Washington and Mid-Prairie wrestling teams faced off in a triangular meet last night along with Fort Madison at Washington High School.
As heard on KCII, the night started with the Demons taking care of business over the Bloodhounds 41-24. After Fort Madison jumped out to a 6-0 lead due to forfeit at 126 lbs the Demons went right to work. Dillan Sanders got the party started with a 6-0 decision win at 132 lbs and Garrett Ikerd had an impressive 17-2 technical fall win at 138 lbs. After a pair of wins for the Bloodhounds, the Demons got three falls in a row from Kiowa Keith at 160 lbs, Tristan Westphal-Edwards at 170 lbs, and Collin Murphy at 182 lbs. The Demons closed out the dual victory with wins from Tanner Murphy at 220 lbs by a 4-3 decision, Mitchell Huisenga at 285 lbs by fall, Matt Collett at 106 lbs by fall, and Walker Ikerd at 120 lbs by fall.
Mid-Prairie battled the Bloodhounds in the second dual and fell 63-15. The Golden Hawks were down 6-0 after one match when Vinnie Bowlin tied it up with a fall at 138 lbs. After a pair of Bloodhound wins the highlighted match of the day came at 160 lbs when Ben Meader won a thrilling 20-17 decision. The final win for Mid-Prairie was Cory Allen at 182 lbs by fall.
The night ended with the two area schools meeting up and the Demons took care of business winning 63-6 over the Golden Hawks. Washington got things rolling with three wins to start up the dual by Garrett Ikerd at 138 lbs by a 6-0 decision, David Hora at 145 lbs by fall, and Kiowa Keith at 152 lbs by disqualification. Ben Meader was a bright spot for Mid-Prairie going two for two on the night with a fall at 160 lbs. The Demons won the rest of the contested matches including Tristan Westphal-Edwards at 170 lbs by fall, Collin Murphy at 182 lbs by a 4-1 decision, Logan Escher at 195 lbs by a 9-6 decision, Tanner Murphy at 220 lbs by fall, Matt Collett at 106 lbs by fall, Brennan Murphy at 113 lbs by fall, and Walker Ikerd at 126 lbs by fall.
After the night the Demons move to 19-2 on the season and the Golden Hawks drop to 9-8.
