The Columbus girls basketball team traveled to West Liberty Thursday to wrap up the first half of their campaign, falling to the Comets 50-38.
The Wildcats controlled the first eight minutes, taking an 11-6 lead into the second quarter. The Comets responded by tying the game at 19 headed into half. West Liberty continued to ride that momentum out of the locker room, outscoring Columbus 18-8 in the third quarter to build their first lead of the night. The Comets did enough down the stretch to hold off the Wildcats for the 12 point win. Anna Hamilton led Columbus with 16 points. The Wildcats enter break with a 1-8 overall record.
