Drought conditions increased in severity from last week to this week in Iowa.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, 8.13% of Iowa is in moderate drought and 71.04% is abnormally dry. All of southeast Iowa is experiencing drought conditions. All of Washington and Keokuk Counties are abnormally dry. There are areas of moderate drought in Iowa, Johnson, Louisa, Henry, and Jefferson Counties. At this time last year, none of Iowa was in moderate drought and only 15.65% was abnormally dry.
