The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball teams split a Superconference doubleheader Tuesday night at Louisa-Muscatine against the Falcons.

The IMS girls opened the night falling in a tightly contested game 54-46. IMS led very early 3-2 only to see L-M run in six and a row and balloon the lead to 10 with three minutes left in the first half. IMS closed the half on an 11-0 run to take a 24-23 lead into the locker room. Out of the break L-M used second chance points to grab the lead again. IMS would stay within single digits down the stretch but were unable to get the lead back in the eight point loss. IMS was led by Suzanna Yoder’s 29 points, four assists and five boards. IMS is now 1-6 on the year.

In the boys contest fast and furious action led to a 74-51 IMS win. Things were very tight through the first half with the score 17-16 IMS after one. Iowa Mennonite closed the half on a 9-0 run to get some breathing room at 31-20 at the half. In the second half, the Iowa Mennonite pressure continued to speed up and wear down the Falcons as the IMS lead grew to as many as 25. Four IMS players got to double figures led by 19 from Mitchell Schmeider. Cole Ours and Reggie Borntrager had 14 each and Eli Ours finished with 12. IMS is now 5-1 on the year. The IMS boys and girls will next be in action Friday when they host Highland.
