Iowa’s unemployment rate in 2016 was less than the rate for the United States.

According to the Legislative Services Agency, Iowa’s unemployment rate last year was 3.7%, the same it had been in 2015, while the national rate was 4.9%. In 2016, Washington County’s unemployment rate was 3.0%. Henry was 3.6%, Iowa County was 3.1%, Jefferson was 3.7%, Johnson was 2.6%, Keokuk was 4.4%, and Louisa was 4.0%. The highest unemployment rates were in southeast Iowa with Wapello County at 5.9% and Lee County at 6.2%.
