The Washington football team will have some hefty shoes to fill in the kicking game next season as Anthony Torres put together a solid senior season.
Reliable kickers can offer a security blanket for teams and Torres provided just that, finishing the year with the sixth-most point after touchdowns in the state with 46. His 89% success rate was third-best in the district. The senior also connected on a pair of field goals including a 28 yarder that proved to be a game-winner in a 16-14 victory over Mount Pleasant. Throughout his three-year career Torres has amassed 97 points, which is the most out of any kicker in the district in that time. The senior wasn’t the only Demon to have a valuable leg as Jaivonn Willis had the second-best punt average in the district with 39, including a long of 54 yards.
The consistency of Torres and Willis helped the Demons to an 8-2 record and a trip to the postseason.
