The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football team got a strong showing from their defense during the 2017 season.

Keaton Duwa led the Golden Hawks in total tackles with 42. Jason Tew led the Hawks in tackles for loss with 11, 10th best in class 2A district five. Tew also had seven sacks on the season, fourth most in the district. Mid-Prairie had an opportunistic secondary. Each member of the starting defensive backfield had at least one interception on the year. Tom Butters led the group and was fourth in the district with three interceptions. Mid-Prairie forced 10 total turnovers on the year. The Golden Hawks finished the season with a 3-6 overall record.
