Libraries are often thought of as quiet spaces, but the Washington Public Library is an exception.
The library is preparing for many concerts this month. Director of the library Debbie Stanton shares who will be performing, “We do have actually a number of noontime concerts, and so this is something where people are starting to hear that the library is a good place for performing.” This Thursday Ha Na Song from the University of Iowa will perform, Stanton says, “She is actually on her way to Brazil to do kind of an artist residency there, so she’ll be performing for us first before she goes to Brazil.” On November 16th Patrick Hazell will perform at 12:15 p.m. with blues improv. And on Saturday the 25th, Brendan Loula will perform at noon, Stanton says, “Who studied Brazilian folk music, so he’ll be performing for us.” All of the noon-time concerts are free to the public.
