Recent rainfall in Kalona hasn’t deterred progress on the new community center.
City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says crews have been working to complete the firewall this week, “Masons are currently out there. They’re putting up the fire separation wall so that’s going well, they’re probably about 80% done with their foundation and their footings. You know the weather hasn’t been the greatest the last two weeks but they’re working through it here.”
Schlabaugh adds that all the materials that have been ordered for the building are scheduled to arrive at their allocated times on the project schedule, and progress is coming along well for a summer 2018 completion.
