A cycling event with an anticipated 700 participants will go through portions of Washington County, it’s called the granGABLE.

At Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting, the road use request was approved unanimously. Cyclists will have three route options this Sunday – 60 miles, 100 miles, or the 55-mile Gable Gravel Grinder. The routes go through rural Iowa, Johnson, and Washington Counties, with rest stops in Riverside and Wellman. The beneficiaries of the event are the Iowa Bicycle Coalition, the Hawkeye Wrestling Club, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. To see maps of the three routes click here.
