The Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team found success on Monday at Holy Trinity for a tournament finishing third place overall.
The Wolves won two of three in pool play beating Wapello (21-14, 15-21, 15-9) and Keokuk (13-21, 21-7, 15-7) before losing to Holy Trinity (21-6, 21-16). Being in the top two for the pool they advanced to the semifinals where they fell to Fort Madison (21-7, 21-9). The offensive success was in part by Liana Sweezer who led the team with 16 kills on the day. Lexee Hartsock and Jenna Buffington were not far behind with 14 apiece. Lauren Jamison accounted for 37 assists. Molly Jennings was efficient serving completing 26 of 30 for three aces. Defensively Kyndal Townsley and Buffington led the Wolves with 25 digs.
After the day the Wolves record improves to 7-12 overall and 3-2 in the conference. WMU gets back on the court Thursday hosting for the Southeast Iowa Super Conference Tournament.
