A ditch fire started after a truck’s tire blew out on Highway 218 Friday morning near Crawfordsville.

According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 10:36 a.m. dispatch received a call that a truck pulling a horse trailer had a front tire blow off. The tire was on fire and then caught the ditch on fire in three different areas. Crawfordsville Fire Department extinguished the fires. Washington County Sheriff’s deputies also responded and cited 32-year-old Wade James Sundell of Paton for operating a non-registered vehicle. The truck was towed at the owner’s request.
