Area boys’ cross country teams competed in Keota on Tuesday night and the Sigourney Savages took home some hardware.

Sigourney won the event with a total of 31 points. Tristan Bell headlined the action for the Savages placing fourth and Paul Montgomery was right behind in fifth. Mason Moore managed seventh and Dawson Webster received a medal placing 15th.

Columbus Community also competed in the event placing second overall with 47 points. The Wildcats’ success was in part by Marc Estrada who took home his first individual title with a time of 18:32. Hunter Humiston cracked the top 10, placing 10th, and Jesus Medrano was 17th.

Highland placed fourth as a team with a total of 84 points. Bryan Redlinger led the Huskies’ attack placing 13th.

Keota, Lone Tree, and WACO also competed in the meet but did not have enough competitors for team scoring. The Eagles’ Turner Klein was impressive placing second with a time of 18:43. Alberto Cortes was the top Lion finisher placing 12th and WACO’s John Shriver was 19th.
