A search team of approximately 50 people found an elderly woman who had gone missing Thursday night.

According to Columbus Junction Police, at 8:17 p.m. a Columbus Junction nursing facility reported a 77-year-old woman had been missing for 15 minutes. Columbus Junction Police was assisted by Columbus Junction Fire and Rescue and Louisa County Ambulance with the search. MedForce helicopter in Burlington was also called to assist. Prior to MedForce arriving on scene, the woman was located conscious and alert at 10:05 p.m. in a heavily wooded area behind the facility. She was transported to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics for observation. Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, facility employees, and community members also assisted in the search.
