A state organization that helped fund the Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center had the chance to tour the one-year-old facility Wednesday.
Enhance Iowa held their regular session meeting in the auditorium. Before the meeting began Washington High School Principal Erik Buccholz led a brief tour and shared his appreciation, “Your contributions make this thing a reality. And the amount of use that it’s already received in one-year’s time period is phenomenal, thousands of people have had an opportunity to benefit from it. Again, thank you very much.”
The Enhance Iowa meeting included presentations by representatives of proposed projects from Sioux County Conservation and the Muscatine County Conservation Board to the Des Moines Community Playhouse and the Knoxville Public Library. Those projects are seeking funding assistance through Community Attraction and Tourism grants. Enhance Iowa will next meet in September in Urbandale.
