The Iowa Mennonite School baseball team is one win away from the state tournament at Principal Park in Des Moines.

The last time Iowa Mennonite advanced to state was 2008. To get there they will need to go through the No. 1 ranked North Linn Lynx. IMS advanced to this round of the postseason with a 10-0 district championship game win over Sigourney on Saturday night in five innings. So far this postseason IMS has outscored their opponents 28-3 through three games. IMS is 14-9 entering tonight’s contest. They are led on the year by Drake Brezina with his .405 average at the plate. On the mound, Brezina is 4-2 with a 2.03 ERA. Blake Bontrager checks in with a team best 1.13 ERA and Cole Yoder is a perfect 3-0 with a 2.75ERA.

North Linn checks in at the top of the latest poll in class 1A from the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association. The Lynx have an overall record of 40-2. They advanced to this round of the playoffs by beating Alburnett for the district title Saturday 9-1. On the season the Lynx are led by Jake Hilmer with his .526 average at the plate. On the mound Hilmer is 10-0 with a 0.67ERA in 62 innings. Logan Novak is 7-0 with a 1.02 ERA in 34 innings of work. North Linn is looking to get back to Des Moines for the second time in school history and the second time in three years, their other trip came in 2015.
