Summer is on the downward slope for area schools, and the Mid-Prairie School District has been busy with the building transition for the elementary and middle school classrooms for the fall.

Superintendent Mark Schneider says the move is almost complete, “We have one moving date left and that is on the 17th. We need to still move some things to Mid-Prairie East Elementary School in Kalona. And then on the 18th, that day is kind of set aside, too, as kind of an added moving day for things that were forgotten and hopefully by next Tuesday everything will be done in the district.”

Buildings and grounds director Maury Gallagher presented at the board meeting July 10. Gallagher and the lead custodians presented their portion of the facilities report for the district. The board expressed appreciation to the custodians for their implementation of the summer moving plan and their professionalism during the building changes this spring.

Mid-Prairie East Elementary in Kalona will house preschool-2nd grades and Mid-Prairie West Elementary in Wellman will host preschool, kindergarten, and 3rd-4th grades.
