With temperatures in the mid-90’s combined with high dew points heat index readings climbed into the 100-105 degree range Wednesday.
At 2:30 p.m. the heat index was 103 degrees in Washington. The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Wednesday afternoon, the third day in a row to do so from noon to 8 p.m. Due to the hot conditions, possible heat-related illnesses can occur if precautions are not taken. The NWS recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms if possible, and stay out of the sun. It’s also recommended to check on relatives and neighbors, especially the elderly. Temperatures are expected to climb back up to the high 80’s over the weekend, listen to KCII for weather updates.
