The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team opens the class 3A postseason tonight when they travel to No. 6 Solon for a first round matchup.
The Golden Hawks enter the game with an overall record of 12-23. Mid-Prairie finished 8-10 in the River Valley Conference, fifth place in the south division. The Golden Hawks were swept by Bettendorf in a doubleheader to wrap up the regular season by 13-3 and 14-2 scores. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Kathryn Conway and her .468 average. Her 16 RBI are tied for the team lead with Jaselyn Robertson, Abby Tornow, and Kylee Kos. Cassidy Rourke has thrown 173 innings in the circle with a 4.36 ERA and 11-14 overall record.
The Solon Spartans enter play with an overall record of 28-12. The Spartans were 14-4, champions of the west division of the WAMAC Conference. Solon is ranked No. 6 in class 3A in the final poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. In their last contest they won at Mount Vernon Monday 18-7. On the season the Spartans are led by Taylor Ryan and her .535 average at the plate. In the circle Kayla West and McKenna Miller have each thrown over 120 innings on the year. West has a 17-6 record with a 1.41 ERA, Miller an 11-6 record with a 3.27 ERA.
