The Iowa Mennonite School remained true to their event’s name at their “Into the Black Celebration” June 9.
The goal of the event was to raise $60,000 for maintaining Celebration Hall. IMS Director of Advancement Jeremy Ours comments on the success, “I felt it went really well. Obviously we were able to raise the funds that we were hoping to raise. But more importantly I think it was a day for the IMS community to come out and have that feeling of nostalgia. Seeing some of those acts again that had been performed in the last 10 years in Celebration Hall. And then there were also some that were well before Celebration Hall. I think it was an evening where people came out and could feel good about IMS and the fine arts and who we are as a community.”
Ours says the 10 year anniversary event for Celebration Hall exceeded the school’s goal of raising $60,000 in one evening, with their general offering, a silent auction of meals raising over $10,000, and a matched donation of $25,000.
