The City of Ainsworth is taking action about the Ainsworth Elementary School.
The Highland School Board meets tonight, and Ainsworth Mayor Troy McCarthy intends to make a motion to purchase the ball fields for $1, and a motion to purchase the school building and grounds for $1.
Highland Superintendent Chris Armstrong has previously mentioned the district could sell the building for as little as $1 if it is sold to a public entity. The Ainsworth City Council held two town hall meetings last week which concluded that the majority of Ainsworth citizens in attendance want the city to purchase the building, grounds, and the ball fields. The council held a special session Thursday to decide what motions they plan to make at tonight’s school board meeting. The board meets tonight at 6 p.m.
