It was a productive first day for the Winfield-Mt Union boys’ golf team at the state tournament in Marshalltown.
Halfway through the two-day event, Kaleb Hagge is on the cusp of a state title as he sits at first in class 1A by shooting an impressive four strokes below par 68. Woodbury Central’s Anthony Gallagher is Hagge’s main competition shooting a 69. In the team competition, the Wolves sit at third out of the eight participating teams by shooting a 332. East Buchanan, Winthrop leads the event with a 308 and second is Bishop Garrigan, Algona with a 318. Along with Hagge other scoring from the Wolves was Nolan Ross with a 84, Jared Kadel with a 89, and Kash Rossiter with a 91. Scratch scores for WMU in day one was Graham Hagge with a 104 and Noah Freeman with a 118.
