Plans for the fall semester of classes are underway, even though this school year has yet to wrap up.
The Kirkwood Washington Regional Center has deadlines approaching quickly for high school students. Center Director Tera Pickens states May 10th is the final orientation for anyone who has yet to attend one that would like to enroll in concurrent courses for the fall.
She adds there are still spaces available for students to enroll, “Especially I would highlight our career and technical education academies, there’s still some enrollment space in those experiences. And really those are the type of academies, that’s the driving factor as to why we built this campus and we’re offering those programs. These are those great hands-on, lab focused classes that are really teaching students great skills that are marketable in today’s job industry. And the academy experiences are designed to go onto many career choice options. Some of the programs include an architecture, construction, and engineering academy; Project Lead the Way pre-engineering; advanced manufacturing and welding; and information technology.
May 15th is the deadline for high school students to add academy classes or change their schedule. These classes are free to students and they can earn college credit and high school credit at the same time. Pickens recommends those interested attend orientation May 10th.
