The Washington boys’ and girls’ track teams battled on Thursday night for the Southeast Conference meet in Mount Pleasant.

There really is no stopping Hannah Anderson when it comes to competing on the track. She is the kind of athlete where all an opponent can do is watch and respect her abilities. Thursday was no different. At a meet where you want to be clicking on all cylinders, Anderson did just that by posting four event titles for the Demons. Her 100m title in 12.47 seconds was a personal best time and was just the beginning for a night to remember. Her dominance in sprints carried over to the 200m and 400m dashes where she took first place honors, and for the encore performance she managed a title in the long jump. By the way, she is just a freshman. Teammate Makenzi Marek showed what she could do by leaping her way to a title in the high jump at 4’8’’. Anderson and Marek managed critical points for the third place Demons that finished with 80 points. Mount Pleasant won the SEC meet with 134 points.

The Demon boys had their fair share of success by finishing the night second overall with 70 points. Mount Pleasant won with 183 points. Kyle Schindler had a memorable night of his own claiming two conference titles. He won the 100m dash in a personal best time of 11.64 seconds and then the 200m in 23.93 seconds. Freshman Ethan Hunt showed great promise by having a pair of second place finishes in the 400m and 400m hurdles. Other second place finishes for the Demons include Caleb Bex in the 110m hurdles, the 4×100 team, and shuttle hurdle relay team.

Next up for both teams are districts on Thursday in Mount Pleasant.
