Washington County has seen an increase in passport applications from this time last year. According to Washington County Recorder Jo Greiner there were 173 passport applications last quarter and 136 passport photos in her office. This is a 24% increase from the same quarter in 2016. Greiner said the increase in applications is growing not only in Washington County, “This is nationwide, there’s just a big increase. I don’t know why. People are just wanting to travel, evidently.” For each application the county receives $25. So for the quarter the county received $4,325 from passport applications.
