Washington County’s hazard mitigation plan needs to be updated. At last week’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting Alicia Presto with East Central Iowa Council of Governments spoke about their available grant administration services. She has worked with area counties on their plans and explained it could simplify the current plan. The cost is $30,000 with a $7,500 match from the county, which may include in-kind contributions.

Supervisor Chairman Richard Young said he was waiting to get more information from Larry Smith Washington and Keokuk County Emergency Management Director, but has yet to hear back. The supervisors decided to table the item and speak directly with ECICOG representatives regarding the proposed contract.
