The Kalona City Council met for it’s regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, April 3rd. Among items on the agenda included an update on the Community Center Project. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh explained, “We have met with the contract board with Enhance Iowa. We’ve been invited to attend their April 12th Meeting in Waverly, at which time hopefully, we will enter into a contract with Enhance Iowa. Our request is for $800,000. Hopefully, that day, we can formally approve their allocation to our project and move forward. On our April 17th meeting for City Council, we are going to have our architect here to go through a final walk-through with the Council before we approve plans and specifications to go to bid with the project.”

The total project cost is estimated at $4.3 million.
