A Washington County family recently received a farm award from Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey. The Thomas and Tammy Vittetoe family won the Gary Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award. They custom feed hogs and grown corn, soybeans and wheat while farming with their sons Joshua, Johnathon and Joel. The family was nominated by their neighbor Michael Hora, who highlighted the family’s commitment to caring for their animals, protecting their land, and being involved in the community. In his nomination Hora wrote, “The Vittetoe’s are excellent, hardworking neighbors and true friends.  Their dedication to doing an excellent job with their crops and livestock operations is very evident, with soil conservation a paramount goal.  I thank God that I’m privileged to have them as neighbors!”
