The City of Keota has a need for a daycare facility, and they are moving forward with finding more information about building one. City Clerk Niki Osweiler explains, “It has been brought to the city’s attention that there is a need for daycare in our community, because many families go out of town for this service. So we’ve been looking into building a daycare, and then of course renting or leasing it out to another organization to run it. That way the expense is off the city’s side and responsibility, so we would basically just have the building and they would take care of the rest.”

To pay for the project, the city has been in contact with the United States Department of Agriculture and the Department of Housing and Urban Development regarding possible grants. Osweiler says they would pay for the rest of the project through general obligation funds. Exact costs have yet to be determined. Osweiler says it will be a long process, but believes it will be worth it in the end.
