The starting backcourt of this year’s Columbus Wildcats girls’ basketball team (11-11) garnered high praise from the conference coaches. The Southeast Iowa Super Conference North recently released the names of this year’s all-conference squad, and seniors Shania Boyd and Bailey Stroud were named first-team selections.

Both guards completed their high school hoops careers among the top six scorers in the league. Boyd poured in a team-best 420 points this winter, the fourth most in the SEISC North. She also ranked third in the league with 92 steals. Stroud finished second on the team and sixth in the conference with 366 points. She facilitated on 115 baskets as well, the second most in the SEISC North.

Jayden Poehler and Maki Mendenhall are Columbus’ honorable mention selections.

The Columbus Wildcats girls’ basketball team ended with a record of 11-11 overall, a two-win improvement from last year. The Wildcats lose Violet Anaya, Boyd, Poehler, and Stroud to graduation.
