The playoff run for the Washington Demon boys’ basketball team (7-13) starts tonight. The Demons will play in the second game of a Class 3A District 12 doubleheader at Oskaloosa High School versus the Indians (13-8). The Fairfield Trojans (9-11) and the Knoxville Panthers (15-6) will face in the first contest.
Washington’s defense allowed a season high 90-points in a 35-point loss to Oskaloosa during the regular season. Jaivonn Willis was the team leader with 17 points and seven rebounds. The Indians have three players who averaged double-digit points in the regular season. Jared Kruse topped the team at 14.5 points a game. Jack Moore contributed 12.8 points while Cole Henry added 12.2 points per game.
The winners of each game will return to Oskaloosa High School on Thursday to battle in the district championship game at 7 p.m. KCII Sports will have live play-by-play coverage of Washington’s district opener on AM/FM KCII, starting with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show at 7:30 p.m. and tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. The game will also stream live on KCIIRadio.com and on the KCII mobile app.
