Southeast Conference foes will meet for the first time this season on the hardwood tonight. The Keokuk Chiefs is scheduled to travel to Washington County for a pair of league games versus the Washington Demons. A mid-December winter storm postponed their first meeting; that contest has been rescheduled for February 6 in Keokuk.

The Demon girls’ basketball team (3-10) looks to end a three-game skid. Washington has seen a better rebounding effort recently. The Demons out-rebounded Ottumwa, 31-17, Tuesday in a 46-28 setback. Washington also bested Fairfield on the glass last Friday, 30-27, in a 52-32 setback. Brooke Stout has secured 23 rebounds in the last two games, including a career-high 15 against Ottumwa. She’s grabbed 98 rebounds this winter, 60 more than any other Demon player. Sarah Nacos is averaging a team-high 13.5 points per game. Keokuk (9-5) brings a four-game winning streak into tonight’s game. The Chiefs upended West Hancock, Illinois, 62-41, on Tuesday.

The Washington boys’ basketball team (3-9) has dropped their last two games. Their latest setback came Tuesday versus the Ottumwa Bulldogs, 71-56. Jaivonn Willis scored a game-high 16 points, including eight in the first quarter. Keokuk (1-13) is still searching for their first win over an opponent from Iowa. The Chiefs’ lone victory came against Augustana Southeastern of Augustana, Illinois, 58-53, on January 16. Isaac Dunlap is the leading scorer and rebounder for Keokuk, tallying 145 points and 102 rebounds.
