Soybean harvests in Iowa and across the U.S. in 2016 broke records set the previous year. According to the Iowa the Soybean Association United States Department of Agriculture’s Crop Production Summary Report shows Iowa farmers harvested about 571.7 million bushels of soybeans last year, above the 2015 record of 554 million bushels. Also, in 2016, Iowa farmers had the nations best average of bushels per acre for soybeans at 60.5. That is also four bushels better than 2015’s record. The average yield per acre of soybeans nationwide last year was 52.1 bushels. In total, U.S. soybean production was at about 4.3 billion bushels, a record high.
