The City of Washington’s audit report for the fiscal year that ended June 30th, 2016, has been released and shows a 41% increase in receipts totaled. According to the Auditor of State’s report Washington’s receipts totaled $18,114,543, including $3.3 million of property tax, $219,550 of tax increment financing, $4.8 million of charges for service, $805,866 of local option sales tax and nearly $1.5 million of operating rates.
The city’s disbursements also went up, a 20% increase from the prior year. The 2016 disbursements totaled $16.3 million and included almost $2.8 million for capital projects, $2.2 million for debt service and $1.7 million for public safety.
The report notes the significant increase in receipts and disbursements is due primarily to the issuance of bonds and notes used to refund debt.
