The Washington County Minibus provided 71,401 rides and traveled 294,933 miles last year. Cris Gaughan, director of the minibus recently spoke with the Washington County Board of Supervisors about the work they do locally. Speaking of the public transportation, she says they provide about 200 scheduled rides and over 75 call in rides daily. Washington County is the only county in the region that provides demand and response transportation, the others have routes. Jones, Benton and Iowa Counties average 23,000 to 31,000 total rides a year, less than half of Washington County.

The local fleet includes 17 buses, and has three full time staff and 24 part time. The Washington County Minibus is again asking the county for $60,000 to aid in their funding for the next fiscal year; their total budget is $753,500.
