The Winfield-Mt. Union girls basketball team topped Iowa Mennonite Tuesday night in Winfield 40-25. The victory was the first of the season in the SEISC for WMU.
The Wolves grabbed momentum with a 13-0 run that spanned the first and second quarters. The Lady Wolves led 21-9 at the halftime break. In the second half, Iowa Mennonite was able to trim the deficit to 10 points on several occasions but the Lady Wolves controlled the paint and stopped each push.
The Lady Wolves were led by a double double from Pearl Krieger-Coble with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Suzanna Yoder led IMS with 10. Winfield-Mt. Union is now 3-4 on the year while IMS falls to 0-6.
