Two area bowling teams opened their season in Washington Wednesday.The Sigourney Savages started their second bowling season at Lebowski’s Rock ‘N’ Bowl against the Washington Demons. Sigourney is bowling a co-ed team due to low girls participation.

Four Savage bowlers recorded two-game individual scores above 300 points, helping the Savages to a victory over Washington, 2,488-2,399. Tanner Halleran topped the meet with a two-game score of 411. He bowled a 219 in game two. Parker Stevens knocked down 377 pins, Skyler Clubb sunk 337 pins, and Ethan Morris added 324 points. The Savages scored 1,697 points in round one and added 791 pins in the baker rounds.

Washington’s top performance came from Collin Zear who posted a two-game score of 337. Kolton Segebart scored 316, while Tucker Renox sunk 305 pins. The Demons scored 1,513 points in round one and added 886 points in the baker rounds.

The Demon girls’ bowling team, comprised of six freshmen, produced a score of 1,667 in their season opener. Taylor Northup posted the best two- game score of 276. Dawsen Schluetter recorded an individual round of 218. The girls collected 1,061 pins in round one and added 606 in the baker rounds.

The Washington bowling teams will begin their Southeast Conference season Saturday in Mount Pleasant. First pins are set to fall at 1 p.m. at the Iris Bowling Center.
