A big first quarter by Muscatine star and University of Iowa commited Joe Wieskamp buried the Washington Demon boys’ basketball team in their season opener Tuesday. As heard live on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, Washington opened the season versus the Muscatine Muskies. Wieskamp, who verbally committed to the Hawkeye basketball team after his freshman season in 2015, recorded 14 of his game-high 24 points in the first quarter in a 60-33 victory over Washington.

The Demons were in an 18-point hole after the first quarter. Washington allowed 22 points while scoring four. John Dillon led the Demons with eight points. Jaivonn Willis and Dalton Myers accounted for six points apiece.

Washington opens Southeast Conference play Friday against the Fairfield Trojans.
