Iowa Mennonite School and Lone Tree boys and girls basketball renew their rivalry tonight on the court.

The IMS girls come into the game with an overall record of 0-1 following a season opening loss to Mediapolis 60-37. Suzanna Yoder led the way for Iowa Mennonite with 24 points. Lone Tree enters tonight with a 2-0 record. The Lady Lions have beaten Danville 48-39 led by Elena Sieverding’s 17 points and downed WMU 49-25 led by 19 points from Madison Forbes. These two teams met three times a year ago with Lone Tree taking all three.

The Lone Tree boys come into tonight’s game with a 1-0 overall record, opening the season Monday night with a 76-74 win over Keota. Niko Gosnell led the way for the Lions with a double double, 25 points and 13 rebounds. Jovonte Squiers added 15 points while Michael Schmidt and Brock Smith each had a dozen. The Lions were 18-6 a year ago and co-champions of the Southeast Iowa Superconference. Tonight’s game against Lone Tree will serve as the season opener for the IMS boys. They were 12-11 a year ago, led by co-conference player of the year Eli Gingerich who departed due to graduation. IMS also lost Jakob Schmidt and Jacob Schmeider to graduation. These two teams met three times a year ago with the Lions taking all three.
