The goal is to connect South 15th Avenue in Washington from East Madison Street to East Adams Street in the near future. In order to build this street and to improve and pave East Adams Street the Washington City Council needs more right of way, as City Administrator Brent Hinson explained they only have to work with one property owner for this project. The council approved hiring A&R Land Services to perform the easement acquisition services for $3,360.
By connecting South 15th Avenue there will be a new route on the southeast side of town. Also, about 10 new residential lots will be created. Hinson explained the 15th Avenue project would occur first, potentially in 2017, followed by widening and paving East Adams Street a couple of years later. The council will be discussing the city’s Capital Improvements Plan for the next five years at their November 22 meeting.
