Very few players in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North will have more playing experience entering this season than Highland’s Trent Lasek. Lasek played his first varsity minutes off the bench as a freshman and has been part of the Huskies’ starting lineup the past two seasons. Lasek is one of six seniors back from last season’s 16-7 campaign. Highland shared the SEISC North title with the Lone Tree Lions.

Lasek and Bill Burton are Highland’s two returning all-conference performers. Lasek, a first team all-conference selection the last two years, led the squad with 290 points and 129 assists. Burton, a second-team all-conference performer last year, topped Highland with 121 rebounds and 27 blocks. Trey Lasek, Jake Wood, Chase Rath, and Johnny Poeschel are also returning. The quartet combined to score 203 points off the bench last year. The Huskies lost all-conference performers Tucker Hall, Tereze Lanfair, Nick Sandberg, and Chris Mellinger to graduation.

Highland Huskies boys’ basketball begins their season Tuesday, November 29, at home against Columbus.
