Students in grades 8-10 interested in attending Iowa Mennonite School will get a chance for a first-hand experience of what the school is like during upcoming visit days. On Wednesday, students who live in the Iowa City area will have the opportunity to spend a full school day at IMS. On Monday, November 28th, students from other area schools will get their chance to spend the day. IMS Director of Enrollment Candi Schmeider explains the visit days give prospective students a chance to see what they can’t see from an advertisement or brochure. She says, “Once they get to meet our teachers and our current students, they find some clues and hints as to whether they can picture themselves here for high school.”
Students who attend the visit days will have a chance to join a student ambassador as they tour the facilities, visit classes, eat lunch, and meet faculty and current students. Schmeider finds the student ambassadors are always eager for the visit days, saying, “These are their favorite days of the school year. I have many students come and request to be a host student for our visiting students. They are always excited to share what they love about the school with our visitors.” The parents of prospective students will be able to meet with the administrative team the morning of the visit days to get information they might want and ask any questions.
