Two rival volleyball teams battled for their postseason lives Monday in Keokuk County. The Pekin Panthers (12-19) traveled to Sigourney High School for a Class 2A Region 8 quarterfinal match versus the Savages (7-20). The Panthers ushered the Savages into the offseason with a four-set loss (20-25, 12-25, 25-8, 21-25).
Senior Anna Ohland had a team-leading 12 kills for Sigourney in her final high school volleyball match. Leah Carter and Sloane Magill added eight kills apiece. Carter assisted on 21 additional points.
The loss ends Sigourney’s season with a 7-20 overall record. The Savages will lose Ohland to graduation.
