Southeast Conference play continues tonight at home for the Washington Demon volleyball team (3-21 overall). The Demons welcome the Fort Madison Bloodhounds (19-7 overall) to Washington High School for a league match. The two teams first met on September 8 in Fort Madison; Washington lost the match in straight sets (10-25, 18-25, 14-25).
Washington hosted the annual Demon Volleyball Classic on Saturday. The Demons won one of the four matches they played, defeating Tri- County in pool play action (21-19, 21-14). Washington suffered losses to Iowa City Regina (16-21, 11-21) and Iowa Mennonite School (7-21, 21-18, 8-15) in their pool. In the fifth place match, Wapello defeated Washington in straight sets (11-25, 13-25). The Wilton Beavers (26-4 overall) took home this year’s tournament championship, defeating Iowa City Regina in three sets (25-18, 22-25, 15-8).
Fort Madison is coming off of a good showing in the Durant volleyball tournament, winning three of their four matches Saturday. The Bloodhounds lead the Southeast Conference with 787 kills, 212 aces, and 725 assists in 26 matches. Junior Amber Dilsaver tops the conference with 327 kills, nearly 150 more than anyone else in the league. Junior Leigh Johnson has assisted on 651 points so far, 273 more than anyone else in the conference.
The varsity match is set to serve at 7 p.m. at Washington High School.
