The boil order issued Tuesday for the cities of Columbus Junction and Columbus City is still in effect until further notice. Early Tuesday, the Columbus Junction water supply had a problem in the distribution system and the system lost pressure, which affected the water supply to both cities. City officials issued a boil order, which means it’s advisable to boil any water to be used for consumption, as there is a chance it may have various contaminants. There is no current timetable for when the boil order will be lifted, because they will need four clean tests due to the large number of connections impacted. Columbus Junction officials will notify KCII when the water is safe.
