Agritourism is growing in Iowa and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is inviting farms across Iowa to list their farm online. They have relaunched their VisitIowaFarms.org website, a database of farms that are willing to host visitors. Farms taking part have a variety of operations from raising livestock to growing crops to hosting overnight visitors.

In 2012, according to the census of agriculture, there were 275 farms open to the public. Farmers who want to be listed can register by going to VisitIowaFarms.org and it’s free to do so. Currently there is one listed in Washington County, two in Louisa County, two in Henry County, five in Iowa County, six in Johnson County and none in Jefferson or Keokuk counties.
